The following job posting went out on Craigslist and a couple of
other outlets this week. Please contact me (Jim Grandy
<jgrandy at openlaszlo.org>) if you are interested.
Senior Software Architect
Laszlo Systems is looking for a exceptional software engineer,
someone who can bring deep knowledge of traditional GUI toolkits and
frameworks to the task of building a world-class standards-based, web-
centric application framework. Someone who loves dynamic languages
but also understands how to design an elegant developer-centric API
and still make the underlying code go fast. Someone who spent
sleepless nights optimizing menubar caching in a major toolkit or
framework -- or worked around deep toolkit bugs in their own
production application. Someone who tail-patched the HIToolbox while
wishing they were programming in Dylan. Someone for whom the idea of
redesigning Cocoa or WPF on top of a truly dynamic language sounds
not only fun but pretty doable.
You will be working on a high-profile open-source project
(OpenLaszlo, http://www.openlaszlo.org) within an ambitious venture-
backed startup, surrounded by experienced and passionate developers,
and connected with a large and even more passionate community of
OpenLaszlo adopters and contributors.
A minimum of 5 years' experience writing production software is
required. Experience developing a modern GUI toolkit or framework
(HIToolbox, Win32, PowerPlant, MFC, Cocoa, WPF) strongly preferred,
as is production experience with a dynamic language (ours is
standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are
required. Our preference is to hire in San Mateo or Boston, but we
will consider other locations for the right candidate.
